Training for trainers for support staff of Gujarat region social ministry sector

The Gujarat Region Social Ministry Sector organized a Training for Trainers for the support staff of our Centers on August 27–28, 2016, at Pushpanjali - Dakor. The 40 participants were welcomed by Superior Sr. Sunanda Solanki. The training began with a video-based prayer song on the love of God, guided by Sr. Vanita Khristi. Sr. Elphina Rodrigues introduced the Resource Person, Fr. Joseph Appavo, Director of Diocesan Social Center - Kaira Social Service Society (KSSS). Fr. Appavo discussed the problems and challenges of working with contemporary youth and children, emphasizing avoiding punishment, using better correction methods, ensuring parents build trust, and covering the dos and don'ts of the Child Protection Policy (CPP). He recommended that every staff member sign the policy declaration. Teachers were commended for their noble vocation of molding the lives of young people. Sr. Sunanda Solanki facilitated soft skill games to improve effectiveness in the workplace. After lunch, Fr. Lorenzo D’Souza, Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School - Dakor, and his team animated a session on the Right to Education Act (RTE), explaining the facilities and benefits available to achieve 100% literacy in India through presentations and the RTE Act theme song. Teachers Sheela Parmar and Sir Jayesh shared experiences on promoting a quality, creative, and effective educational system with love. These sessions were enriching and inspiring, reigniting the teachers' commitment. On the second day, the resource person was Mr. Francis Macwan, a professional Counselor and consultant for family counseling and career guidance. His use of short video clips and presentations effectively conveyed concepts of child psychology and parent-child counseling. Participants were grateful for the impactful and thought-provoking session, which revitalized their passion for their work. We thank the Sahayini Development Office for this initiative to upgrade the Support Staff and foster a sense of belonging to their respective Centers.
