Child protection road show in Ahmednagar

On November 7, 2015, the Self Help Group (SHG) Sodality of Sacred Heart and the Salesian Co-operators of Laura Vicuna Niwas – Ahmednagar jointly organized a Road Show to raise awareness in the neighborhood about the critical need for Child Protection. The 75 women and 7 men carried catchy charts and shouted slogans like "Stop sexual harassment of children," "Equal opportunities for girls and boys," and "Children are God’s gift." The Mayor of Ahmednagar, Mr. Abhishek Kalamkar, inaugurated the Show and spoke forcefully on the Rights of the child, encouraging the gathering to “Dare & Hope” when a child’s life is at stake. The Sarpanch, Mrs. Suheela Jagtap, emphasized the need to form children into honest citizens in today’s society. Sr. Theresa Plathara, the animator, thanked the group for the good initiative. Sr. Mangal Kolge, the Co-ordinator, spoke a few words to encourage the women and men to fight relentlessly to save the helpless child.
